A group of four young men allegedly forced entry into a house and gang raped a 35 year old housewife on Thursday night at Srikrishnpur in Nadial of Ashokenagar, North 24 Parganas. The lady, alone at the time also had acid poured into her mouth before the four men fled.
The heinous assault, which happened at around 12:30 am when the victim’s husband, a share cropper,was out on a job, continued for over 40 minutes. The victim was gagged and threatened to be murdered if she raised her voice.
Neighbours came to help after the whole incident was over and took her to Habra hospital. She was shifted to JNM hospital in Kalyani on Friday morning when her condition deteriorated.
The criminals were named by the victim and her husband and brother lodged a police complaint. The victim is said to be in a critical condition after this terrible ordeal, while police continue to debate on whether the acid was consumed by the victim herself after the rape or was forced into her mouth by the assaulters.
