Apparently we Bongs are not the only ones waiting eagerly for Durga Puja. Brazilian football legend Pele to visit Kolkata this October, for a span of three days starting from the 11th to the 13th of the month. “I’m looking forward to my visit to Kolkata after 38 years, and during the time of Durga Puja,” the prodigy divulges in a video message.

Pele is scheduled to reach the City of Joy on the 11th of October, which will be a rest day for him after the cumbersome journey, and will officially start his tour from the very next day. The legend’s visit is a part of the “Legend’s Tour of India ” organised by the Multicon Group and NSHM Knowledge Campus. The Brazilian player will interact with over 1000 students in the same program in the early hours of the 12th of October. He will then go to Netaji Indoor Stadium, stopping at Eden Gardens on the way where he will be felicitated by the Cricket Association of Bengal in a Royal manner. CAB treasurer Biswarup Dey announced that the felicitation will be such that Pele’s visit to Eden leaves a lasting impression on all.

At the NSHM Campus later that same day, a statue of Pele will be unveiled, adding the cherry to the top of the cake, a customized No. 10 Pele jersey signed by the player himself as well, which has already been unveiled by the organisers.

Pele will also attend a magnificent Legend’s Night with chief minister Mamata Banerjee and former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly. On the final day of his tour, Pele will be the Guest of Honor at the Vivekananda Yuva Bharati Krirangan, defending Atletico de Kolkata’s first home match.

According to an organiser, more promotional programmes regarding this visit will be seen across the city in the days to come.
