Kumar Chokshanada Sangakkara (Kumar Sangakkara), the former Sri Lankan wicket keeper cum batsman was born on 27th October, 1977 at Matale, Sri Lanka. This left handed batsman made the world whirl with his spectacular batting skills. His first test debut was on 20th July, 2000 vs South Africa. His last test match was against the neighboring blues, India on 20-24th August, 2015.His ODI debut was against the neighboring Pakistan on 5th July, 2000. His last ODI of his life was on 18th March, 2015 vs South Africa. This 11th numbered is the holder of many records. He follows Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar  in the list of Highest Run Scorer in ODI and is also the 5th Highest run scorer in the Test cricket.

Sangakkara is known as the “most polished and prudent of batsmen” in the cricketing world. This legend was the x-factor of Sri lankan team who won the 2014 ICC World Cup T-Twenty.

This legend reached the milestone of 8000,9000,11000 and 12,000 test runs faster than anyone else. He is also a successful wicket keeper of the cricketing era. Apart from the cricket ground, he is a very skilled violinist. He played for many domestic clubs including Deccan Chargers, Kings XI Punjab, Hobert Hurricanes, Surrey and many more.

This ‘gentleman’s’ captaincy was another eye catching thing. His incredible catches produced goose bumps on the cricket lovers. His sensational batting made the world say “WOW”!
