“The Sky is Pink” is directed by Shonali Bose, starring Farhan Akhtar, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Zaira Wasim, Rohit Saraf. This movie is actually based upon the life of motivational speaker Aisha Chaudhary who died in an early stage of life.
“The Sky is Pink” starts with Zaira’s voice though she is not on the screen for a long time. But her strong presence is felt by her voice. The story is based upon true events.
Director Bose has made a kind of over dramatisation in the movie “The Sky is Pink”. The first half consists the love story of Aisha’s parents which is very long and honestly tiring. The audience can get confused since the past, present get mingled with everything.
The story of “The Sky is Pink” gets tangled everywhere. In fact there are so many questions that needed to be answered in the first phase. Also recalling the sex life of parents is not a cool thing perhaps the director wanted to show the coolness of Aisha with her parents.
“The Sky is Pink” shows us the strength of a family in the toughest times when they lost everything. It shows the unity and love as well that shape every human relationships.
When Aisha’s mother tells her son that not every sky needs to be blue but the colour according to you, it feel so connected. The colour pink has been used as a symbol of strength and own choices.
The only problematic area of “The Sky is Pink” is its length. The movie is of 2 hour and 24 minutes which seem too long to enjoy. The creation stage when their inter relationships were establishing can be shown more deeply.
The journey to London and Aisha’s treatment took too much time. “The Sky is Pink” ends in a exaggerated point. After Aisha’s death the story seems to be ended but the director further drags it. The bond between brother sister or daughter parents can be shown more deeply.
The song ‘Dil hi toh hai’ by Arijit Singh is used beautifully in “The Sky is Pink”. His soulful voice helps to show the bond between Aisha’s parents. In the burying scene of Aisha the background music seems odd.
Priyanka Chopra Jonas bangs on in her kind-of-comeback-role. Farhan is good in the role of Aisha’s father. Rohit Saraf who played Aisha’s brother is also good. Zaira Wasim is amazing.
Overall the movie is a mediocre. Though there are strong acting base of Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Farhan Akhtar even Zaira Wasim. The plotting and screenplay got tangled with each other. Director could not handle the ongoing past and present relay throughout the entire film. Despite of having a good story and a strong action base, the movie lacks in presentation and serving.
