A student of IIT Madras was found hanging in his hostel room on Monday. Nagendra Kumar Reddy, who was completing his masters degree, was said to be depressed after he failed to ace the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering conducted by the IITs for the doctorate programmes or jobs in the public sector unit.
No suicide note has been found, say the police. Nagendra, the son of a farmer, had reportedly been offered a job by Engineering Conglomerate L&T, but was looking for a Government job.
In a statement, IIT Madras said the student was from Andhra Pradesh. However at this time, there is no indication for the reason of death.
